March 15, 2001 -- Film Projection Concepts Internationalsm a division of Atlas Specialty Lighting®, has announced plans to offer an innovative program called "Operation Bright Screen". This is a program where free reflectors for Strong/Ballantyne and Christie equipment will be given to cinema owners based upon a commitment to purchase xenon arc lamps for a period of 24 months.
The main purpose of "Operation Bright Screen" is to help theatre owners enhance the quality of the picture on the screen by providing more light due to the replacement of the reflectors in the lamp houses. It has been determined that most theatres do not have a periodic replacement cycle for the reflectors. Over time, the reflectors quality degrades and instead of reflecting the arc lamps light efficiently, it begins to absorb the light, actually causing a build up of heat. This heat build up will cause potential damage to both the lamp and the lamp house.
